Troop 437 is made up of a Boys and a Girls Troop. Troop 437 is proudly sponsored by the American Legion Post 437.  The Legion post gives the troop access to a wonderful facility with a function hall, large open outdoor spaces, and a waterfront.  As a key part of the Scout program is developing good citizenship, the troop also benefits from close ties to our country's veterans.

Patrols:

Our mixed-age patrols allow scouts to grow in their responsibility within the patrol while making friends with youth of all ages.

Weekly Meetings:

Include skill building, trip planning, service projects, and frequent time for a game at the end.

Monthly Trips:

Troop 437 plans and runs monthly outings.  We go camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and sailing.  We go zip-lining and white water rafting.  We frequently go to Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.  We also hold City Trips to New York City. See our web site for details on the trips planned for upcoming months.

High Adventure

Crews from Troop 437 have traveled to Sea Base and Philmont which are Scouting National High Adventure bases.  We have a Sea Base adventure planned for 2023 and a Philmont Trek in 2024

Costs:

$30 troop dues per year are collected in the fall which helps cover troop operating costs.  In addition $72 for Scouting America registration and $50 for the Spirit of Scouting Council Adventure card are collected yearly.  Trip costs are collected on a trip-by-trip basis depending on the nature of the activity.

Fundraising:

We hold a spring bike and sporting goods sale to cover the operating costs of the troop.  In the fall we offer popcorn and cookie dough sales for scouts who want to raise money for their scouting-related expenses.
